How do we weave together math and science learning and cultural understandings in authentic ways that reaffirm our students’ identities? In this session, we will reflect together on our own funds of knowledge, our community cultural wealth, and our connections to making in order to think about what our students have to bring to class each day. We will connect how leveraging maker-centered learning becomes a tool for creating more equitable, just, and liberatory learning experiences for youth.Additional Resources:Zaretta Hammond from “Liberatory Learning: Integrating the Science of Learning and Culturally Responsive Practice”Luis Moll from “Funds of Knowledge for Teaching”Tara J.
